The Importance of slowing down

Holy Week is our time to slow down even in a predominantly Muslim country like Kuwait.

Today’s world is fast paced as if everything moves with one click of our finger, as if everything is almost instant. Computers, gadgets, cell phones, television, sound system, all these keep us busy.

While the above mentioned things probably give us happiness to a certain degree, when we are faced with difficult times, these cannot be our listening ear or shoulder to cry on. We can turn to our friends or co-workers to share our problems with. But let us not forget to choose whom we share our problems with.

Our family, friends, co-workers can only do so much for us. When no human mind and heart can figure out how to handle the difficulty, there is only one source left – ask rest from God.

Haven’t you noticed that praying gives us inner peace? Praying has a calming effect that instead of worrying ourselves sick, we should allow ourselves to be enriched spiritually. Although we live in a predominantly Muslim host country like Kuwait, as OFW Christians, we can do something to slow down this Holy Week 2016.
