The Importance of Overseas Absentee Voting

Time passes by so quickly. Kuwait’s absentee voters’ turnout in the 2013 Philippine elections had Senator Mary Grace Poe leading. This year here in Kuwait, another Overseas Absentee Voters registration was held.

Although in 2013, only 8 percent of the estimated number of registered voters in Kuwait actually affirmed their right to suffrage or right to vote, it will always be one for the books. Why do I think so? Overseas Absentee Voting for me is not only about getting higher percent of voters, although that’s a plus factor; it is more about us, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) being given the chance to choose and vote for the political candidate whom we think can help our home country, the Philippines.

Fellow OFWs here in Kuwait, let our voices be heard on May 2016! Proud to be Filipino!

As an overseas absentee voter, you also help form the future of the Philippines. A future that you will one day go back to. It’s great that you were able to register as an absentee voter! Great job! 😀

exercising one’s right to vote is a good thing! it helps to get your voice heard out there as to who will lead the country – after all it’s with capable leaders that the country flourishes.

Election next year and I haven’t even registered! I don’t think I can this year too since I’m heavily pregnant. OFWs should be given a chance to exercise their rights specially when it comes with the coming elections. I hope all the OFWs register and get to vote.

It is important that everyone votes. We all have our rights to vote and have a say on who leads this country. Good job that they were able to implement this absentee voting … After all, we have a lot of OFW workers.
