ceremonies on Friday, December 7th was one of the reasons for my unplanned, unexpected homecoming. Although still experiencing some jet lag, I was truly enthusiastic to participate in the meaningful event.
All awardees were allowed to come with five (5) guests and my mother was among them. It was my surprise for her after all these years. The Awarding Ceremony was held at the 5th Floor MegaTrade Hall, SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City. Registration started at 12 noon and at one o’clock in the afternoon, the program commenced with an Invocation.
While Lupang Hinirang was given reverence as our National Anthem, I couldn’t explain how I felt. OBRA 2012 is my second award since becoming a blogger, but my first award for this year. I knew that all the hard work I put in every event I covered in Kuwait and all the nights I stayed up late at night as I was writing my blogs, at the flat which I consider my second home, every bit of that, was all worth it.
Garbed in modernized baro at saya, hair let down and slight make up just to add color to my cheeks and lips, I blended well with the elegantly simple arrangement of the venue. Mam Michelle Ballesteros, CEO of Ex-link Corporation gave the Welcome Address while Hon. Teddy Casino, Chairperson, Committee on Small Business & Entrepreneurship Development was the Key Note Speaker.
I was in evanescent heights as I gave my speech in Filipino, and finally accepted my award as Outstanding Blogger Advocate for www.diarynigracia.com. Other awardees were: Outstanding Entrepreneur – Milagros Remugat Leviste, Domingo Carmona De Leon ; Outstanding Community Builder – Jeffrey Ximo Ramos, Rosalie Ellasus ; Outstanding Positive Character/Deed ; Emmanuel Rabulan, Juanita Limbago ; Outstanding Family Builder – Solito Cruz, Analiza Lupisan ; Outstanding Blogger Advocate – Eulalia Frances Llenos Jayme.
“I was amazed by all the other awardees who have contributed well to the recognition of Filipinos overseas. The participants who performed joyfully during that day added festivities to the occasion.”
