Flag Raising Ceremony for Kalayaan 2016

Once again, I am grateful to have been part of the Flag Raising Ceremony for the 118th Philippine Independence Day Celebration in Kuwait, a few days ago. As an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) here in Kuwait, it is very important for me to uphold my nationality and my identity, while being able to co-exist harmoniously with other expatriates and of course, the Kuwaiti citizens.

Invited guests and media coverage for the important occasion were dressed in Barong Tagalog (for men) while the lovely women came in Filipiniana dresses, Baro at Saya and Terno. Everyone was a captivating sight to behold that made me realize how proud I am to be born Filipino!

I’ve been here in Kuwait for several years now, with one homecoming in between. I have learned to like and understand the culture of my host country. It is affluent and is concerned with the expatriate population. My home country may not be as rich as Kuwait in terms of monetary value and oil, but I will always go back to where I was born.

This Flag raising ceremony affirmed my status as an OFW Blogger and a migrant worker in the Middle East. I wish that the responsibility of gaining freedom will forever reign in our hearts, minds and spirit.

Mabuhay and Lahing Pilipino! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!
