Me and my Diary Contest!

In celebration of ”My Serendipitous Day”

a. Describe your Diary/Planner.
My diary / planner is something I always bring with me, even during short trips to the mall. It’s as big as a regular-sized notebook, covered in a shiny blue-green fabric with an oriental print and design. I actually can’t decide if it is a diary or a planner, since it serves me both purposes. I picked it up from a craft store a year ago, and I immediately fell in love. I knew I had to bring it home that day when I looked at it and its blank, white pages urged me to doodle, draw, and write on it eagerly right at that moment.

Of course I didn’t do that in the store, but it was worth more than the money I paid for now. Why? It now has my memories, my thoughts, and my doodles from my last year in college, when I struggle to keep my eyes open, haha. Not to mention that I poured a lot of my creative ideas in that diary, things that I couldn’t do now, but I swore to do someday. It’s not just a diary, it’s part of my life.

b. What is your Ideal design for your diary/planner?
For me it doesn’t really matter how cute it looks like or how big or small the diary is. What I am looking for, though, is a lot of space where I could just pour myself into. Big, blank, and clean white pages is a plus, and when it’s encased in a hardbound cover, that’s a big plus for me. I’m not the only one who wants to preserve and protect my diary, right?

A pen holder and some pockets would be useful too, for keepsakes and memorabilia. I have been on the lookout for diaries and planners with this one, but I haven’t found anything yet. I’m an avid keeper of anything that could help me remember vividly the experience of every day, and I don’t want to lose these sentimental items by just inserting between the pages.

When it comes to the design, it has to reflect my personality or anything about me. I want it personalized, just like my diary here, which shows my Asian side as I am part Chinese, but I don’t know how much, haha. Colorful, textured, and bubbly is another way I’d love my diary to be. I just want people to see who I am even if they see only the cover of my diary.

c. How does your Diary/Planner help you?
This diary has helped me a lot. It has kept me awake in the boring college lectures while I doodle away. I have drawn lots of times in my diary, about things I want to do, things I love, or anything that comes to my mind, actually. It keeps me sane from all this overflowing creativity.

I’m also the type of person who doodles a lot, and who gets inspired by almost anything that other people normally ignore. Inspiration comes to me anywhere I am, regardless of what I am doing, so I have to write everything down, or draw and doodle. Bringing this with me everywhere saves me the trouble of forgetting anything. You never know when inspiration might hit you, and that’s the case for me.

  1. @adaengkantada, thank you! 🙂 I loved it when I first saw it. The drawing on the first page was the first thing I drew once I got it. 🙂
