“God reveals himself through surprises “ – Pope Francis

Surprise – something unexpected, something strange. We usually think that surprise is synonymous to happiness or receiving something that will make us happy. But what if it is the opposite? Sadness.

Most of us consider difficulties in life as negative. We think most of the time that trials hamper our growth, dampen our life and make our world colorless. We wallow in our tears and allow ourselves to succumb to depression and anxiety.

But did we ever think for once, that trials are surprises too? Don’t we realize that when we are in the middle of a problem, we learn who our true friends are? We learn who stays only through thick and those who stay even if it is a tough and thin situation for us. We are surprised to find out that the friends whom we have known for several years will leave because of our unfortunate circumstances. And our so-called new friends are the ones who stay with us.

All throughout our struggles, God never leaves us and eventually, He makes a way for us to come out of the dark tunnel. Life is truly full of surprises. And we should be thankful for each day that we wake up in the morning and ready to face another challenge ahead.

I love this: “God reveals himself through surprises “ . And I agree with you, that even trials come as a surprise. Whats is important is seeing Christ and His message to us in ever trials that we went through. 🙂

You are right, not every surprise there is automatically means happiness. But sometimes people grow from it, and that is the best experience ever.

I agree, I may not be Catholic but Pope Francis has been a great leader so far. I really admire it (maybe it’s all the jesuit training I had in Ateneo though)
