The Gift of Friendship

Friendship is a blessing most especially if you are with the right people.
Friendship is a blessing most especially if you are with the right people.

Most probably like you, I have learned the gift of friendship during childhood and from my playmates. When I started school, I met more children and developed ties with them. Some have become my friends until high school.

College was another world for me, and yet, some are still my good friends to this day. The work force introduced me to another set of companions, a few of them I can call friends. Falling in love briefly affected my friendship with others but it was not too long.

Coming here in Kuwait a few years ago, truly broadened my perspective about friendship. I met foreigners, other expatriates who can be considered friends while others were just work mates. As months, years went by, busy schedule here and there, tiring and trying times as an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) made me realize that only a few can be considered true friends.

They are the kind of friends who stay by your side during happy days, but all the more they will never leave your side when you are in your direst lows and the meanest blues. They are only a handful but I thank the Lord Almighty for the gift of their friendship.

We are in the same boat, dear. that’s what I was thinking too. Friendships are one of the blessings of God in us. Let us just also be reminded that true friends will push you up, not pull you down. 🙂

Growing up in different countries was hard. Since, you have to adjust, make new friends and with that their are those few who you can consider as your true friends even when your worlds apart. 🙂

You’re right about friendship, there are only really a few people who you can consider as true friends. But it’s not about the quantity of friends you have, it’s about the quality.

Finding your true friends is so difficult. Most of my friends are my friends since I was a student. I have trust issues so I don’t get to be friends with anyone just yet. Thank you for sharing your story

Yes. That’s why we have to treasure our true friends because in the end, they’re the ones who will always be there for us. Despite the times when you can’t talk to each other, you know you have each other’s back 🙂

I agree. When we were younger, having a lot of friends seemed to be a necessity but as we grew older, we realize that having a few is enough… as long as they are true to you.

I don’t mind having few friends as long as they never talk against me behind my back. Who would want those kind, right?

I have so many friends but I keep very few close friends. There is a big difference between the two. Your co-workers can be your friends or the people you meet along the way but they do not necessarily touch you as deep as the others.

For me, the closest I have are the ones I have met during my college years. Now that we are far from each other, some are in Bacolod, others abroad, we still keep in touch every single day. These are the friends you truly treasure.
