A tourist holding a visit visa in Kuwait is not allowed to be employed unless he or she secures a work permit and a residence visa.
For people to be employed in the Private sector, work visas and residence permits are granted under Article 18 following immigration regulations. It is only after accepting the employment offer, can the residence visa be obtained.
For the employer’s part, these are the steps he must undertake;
– He must go to the Ministry of Social Affairs & Labor Affairs and submit a copy of the employee’s passport.
– He must also submit the employee’s personal details and obtain a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the General Administration of Criminal Investigation at the Ministry of Interior.
For the employee’s part, he or she must seek an entry visa to Kuwait providing the affirmed work permit and producing other pertinent documents such as medical certificate, previous employment records, educational records and good conduct certificate among others.
For fingerprint and Security Clearance, expatriates seeking work in Kuwait may go to the departments located in Khaed Ibn Al Waleed Street, Sharq, Al Gazali Street, and Farwaniya, Ahmadi and Jahra. Upon registration, expatriate employees must produce their passport, copy of their passport, photographs and letter from Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor. Usually, after a week, the Interior Ministry will issue the Security Clearance Certificate in a week’s time.
