Even before I started blogging in 2010, I was already a “surfer”. I love to surf the internet, that is. Expressing myself in written form, my thoughts, my wishes, my dreams, my frustrations, all of these I better put in memories.
When I first came here in Kuwait, several years ago, my first job demanded that I be abreast of the developments concerning students and staff. The internet was a very reliable source and of course, hands on training made my work a bit easier.
Once during my day off, I stumbled upon a blog whose owner is a fellow Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) and he wrote in Tagalog (Filipino). The way he expressed himself in writing caught my attention and well, he became my “inspiration” to write.
Each time permitted, I followed his blog and even wrote him letters, asking if I could meet him as he was an interesting person for me. I knew he was very busy but after some months passed, he set the day and time for our meeting.
Now, I can no longer remember the place where we dined out, or what food we ordered. But the fact that a person as busy as him, made time for a “fan” of his, remains a memory in my heart and mind.
“Maraming Salamat po..pamatay homesick for being my first date here in Kuwait.”
