“Success isn’t something that just happens – success is learned, success is practiced and then it is shared. ” — Sparky Anderson
As an honorary member of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) Kuwait Chapter, I consider myself blessed to be part of this organization – strong willed men and women who focus on their responsibilities to get things done the best way they can. However, despite their busy work load and personal time apart from work, they still can bond and maintain camaraderie thru sports.
I am not totally into Sports although I welcome the idea. I am amazed to see how these gentlemen technically fight each other…to win the game of Chess. I believe this to be a mind and strategy game from start to finish.
Considered one of the throwing sports, bowling is one of the events that PSME Kuwait includes in its Sportfest. It is a cheerful moment when the game player knocks down a number of bowling pins or the most awaited moment – a strike!
Another form of throwing game, Darts is a precise game for aiming with a set of rules and skills strategy too. I noticed that the players focus (just like in all sports games) but the aim of the upper arm is really important. However which way the player throws the “small missile” on to the board, marks the score. They call out the scores and I put these in writing.
What can someone not totally athletic like myself learn from all the Sports activities of PSME Kuwait? It’s not about who wins or who loses, it is about the enhancement of the group that strengthens the camaraderie of the organization.
