Five Fingers

Five fingers plant.
Five fingers plant.

Our hand has five fingers – thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger and the smallest of them all – pinky.

When we like what we see, when we approve of the situation or we want to show our contentment over something, we make the thumbs up sign. If we are looking for something in the directory pages, we usually use the index finger to find it.  There’s the ring finger where the engagement gem and the marriage bond stays. Who will forget the cutest of all – pinky? Swear to death with this little fellow.

It seems to be quite basic to describe the five fingers of our hand. But what am I trying to say here? The five fingers have different sizes and functions but taken as a whole, they are able to do important tasks.

This is similar to us, people. We have different family backgrounds, environmental factors that affect us, pursuits, friendship, relationship with people, among others. What may work for us may not be good for the person next to us. What we consider a solution to our problem, may be the opposite for someone. What we love the most is disliked by our neighbor.

My piece of unsolicited advice would be – live and let live. If you do not have anything good to say about the other person, it is far better to keep quiet and smile.
