Canada serves as the fourth host country for Filipino Overseas Migration. First recorded Filipinos in Canada was in 1930 but there were no clear documents what profession they held. From 1950 to 1969, Filipino women teachers, nurses, health service technicians, doctors, office workers, garment industry workers who first came to the United States then later moved to Canada.

At the start of the 1970s, many Filipinos came to Canada with work visa on sales, clerical and manufacturing industry. The family reunification program of Canada also legalized Filipinos to join their relatives who worked in Canada under the family reunification program.

Workers under the Live-In Caregiver Program of Canada in the 1980s became immigrants instead of contract workers and after a decade, sponsored families from the Philippines composed the influx of Filipinos to Canada. Year 2000 on wards about 20,000 Filipinos arrive in Canada per year.

As of last quarter of 2014, there are more than 845,000 Filipino migrants in Canada living and working in many of its provinces.
